NHS OpenAthens is an authentication account which allows nursing staff in England access to a wide range of quality health information resources online, including databases, e-journals and e-books. OpenAthens accounts are freely available to NHS staff and you can use your account to access the resources from anywhere via the internet. There are lots of nursing, nurse associates and healthcare assistant resources available such as databases like CINAHL and British Nursing Index and key journals such as the British Journal of Nursing and the British Journal of Healthcare Assistants, all in support of your practice, learning and CPD.
When registering ideally you should be logged onto an NHS or library computer, if you are using an external computer you should use your trust or nhs.net email address to confirm your eligibility.
Once you have created an account, you can manage your account details (e.g., change your password, organisation or email address) in the hub area of your account.
If you have forgotten your password you can reset it here.
If you have any queries regarding NHS OpenAthens please contact the local OpenAthens Administrator Ayo Ogundipe at apogundip@sgul.ac.uk or 020 8725 5433.
