My Reading List Guide

Guide for module leaders to create reading lists using My Reading List powered by Leganto software

What students will see

Students will access their reading list from their Canvas module homepage using the My Reading List option.

From the link to My Reading List, students will see a range of information and access options for the resources you want them to view.  They will see:

  • The resource types you wish them to read or view, such as books, articles, videos or websites.
  • Other information that you have added, such as a 'public note' with information on why the students should read or view the specific piece of information.
  • The tag to show whether the item is Core, Recommended or Supplementary - we recommend you use this.
  • A 'view online' link to any resource that is available electronically.
  • If a book is available in print format in the Library, the 'call number' where the book can be found on the Library shelves.  Sometimes books are available in both print and electronic format, and this will be indicated on the My Reading List.

How to see your reading list in student view

To see the list in student view, you need to switch to student view in My Reading List itself, instead of switching to the student view of Canvas.

1. Access My Reading List from the left hand navigation for the module in Canvas (in the instructor view of Canvas)

2. Click on the ellipsis (...) to the right of the name of your reading list

3. Select 'View list as a student' from the menu that appears
